Settle in, then start your first look around at the José I statue in Praça do Comércio. Face the Rua Augusta Arch: the river is behind you and the downtown streets are ahead.

Your first walk: Praça do Comércio → Praça do Município → Rua Augusta Arch → Rossio. Allow 45–75 minutes for the full 1.214 km route with pauses. For a shorter outing, skip City Hall and follow Rua Augusta directly to Rossio.

Expect stone paving and street crossings. Follow marked crossings and check the route page for current notices. Step-free access has not been verified.
