# Coimbra in half a day or a full day?

Choose a compact university-and-old-town visit or add gardens and the riverfront, with a practical time budget for a hilly city.



## Choose around your fixed booking

If the Joanina Library matters to you, arrange the timed visit first. The University’s visitor information says the library has a specific booked date and time, while other included spaces follow the ticket conditions. Read the current ticket details rather than assuming every space is open whenever you arrive.

The schedules here are suggested time budgets. They are not measured walking times, queue forecasts, or promises of admission. Keep the final connection home as a second fixed point.

## Half day: university, Sé Velha, lower town

Allow about four hours. Begin in the university area, then descend toward Sé Velha and explore the surrounding streets. Continue toward the lower town and Santa Cruz area for a meal or a break before leaving.

Skip the cross-river attractions and garden if the day is tight. Trying to fit every chapter of a city guide into four hours can leave no time for a delayed entry or a comfortable rest.

## Full day: add one or two distinct experiences

With seven to eight hours, add the Botanical Garden and a riverfront walk, or replace one with a prechecked attraction across the river. Choose according to your energy and opening arrangements.

The garden belongs to the University and offers a change of pace from the historic streets. Returning between upper and lower areas means elevation changes; do not assume a flat continuous route.
