Saved guides and location

Your saved guides and chapter progress are stored in your browser on this device. Optional location stays on the device and is not sent to VoyageOwl. You can remove saved items or clear browser data at any time.

Planning preferences and anonymous counts

Your city travel dates and chosen temperature unit are saved on this device. The initial unit uses the country supplied by our hosting network when available, otherwise your browser’s region settings. This requires no GPS access and stores no country or location record. For supported city planning tools and practical guides, we count page views and actions such as month changes, saves, print requests, download clicks, official-link clicks, city-guide clicks, audio starts and a 30-second visible-reading threshold. Counts are grouped by day, page and action. This feature stores no cookies, IP addresses, identifiers, exact trip dates or free-text input. It honors browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. Counts describe actions, not unique people, completed downloads or completed walks.

Feedback

Correction reports store the guide reference, category, message, and submission time. A hashed network identifier that changes daily is stored with reports to limit abuse. Please avoid sending private or sensitive information. Contact info@voyageowl.com to request removal of a report you submitted.

Weather

Weather comes from MET Norway through our server. Requests use the destination’s fixed forecast point, not your location. We do not request GPS access for weather. Your browser connects to VoyageOwl rather than directly to MET Norway. Forecast responses are cached and shared between visits.

External services

Audio is delivered from the existing VoyageOwl Amazon S3 host. Interactive maps load automatically from Google Maps or OpenStreetMap when you view a page containing a map. These services receive normal connection information, and their own privacy policies apply. QR codes are generated on your device.

Hosting

VoyageOwl is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which processes the connection information needed to deliver the site. Reading the guides does not require an account. VoyageOwl does not use advertising trackers.
